***I started writing this post this past Tuesday, then uploaded some photos on Wednesday. I have no idea what happened on Thursday, but here we are Friday night and I'm finally getting to push the magical publish button. This baby is THREE WEEKS TOMORROW. Mind blown.
So the first two weeks, plus a few days, of having newborn Dakota are now behind us. It's been quiet here on the blog as I really soaked up those early days with this tiny little baby. They go by so fast - you blink and they're gone. We'll never have another five day old Dakota Young.
So what day is it? After the first week of bliss you start settling into your new routine. With a toddler in tow, the routine is much different than it was with your first newborn. Some days I'm really productive. Luna and I do crafts, I have a constant cycle of laundry going, we run errands, and I keep the house in check. Other days my goals are strictly limited to just getting the girls naps to coincide so I can have a moment to myself. With Luna as a newborn I remember napping with her during the day - which certainly doesn't happen now. I'm lucky that at night Dakota so far is a great sleeper and I'm feeling well rested enough to carry on each day. She's fussy for a few hours leading up to midnight each night but after that it's smooth sailing till the morning. Co-sleeping has been rougher than I expected but I'll save that update for another time.
Luna has been adjusting better this week. She's more helpful and gentle. She asks to hold the baby at least a few times a day and loves talking to her and kissing her. She accompanies me on all diaper changes singing to her sister while I do the work.
Over the weekend my mom flew in from Florida to visit the girls along with my aunt and cousin who drove down from upstate to meet her. It was the best 48hrs of girls time ever. We ate great food out, we shopped, we ate great food in, we laughed and enjoyed each others company. Luna really benefited from all the extra attention and playtime. They came bearing so many gifts and with all the generous shopping we did by the time they left our nursery looked like I had just had a baby shower. They really spoiled me and the girls. Their visit was so uplifting and I'm so thankful for my family!
Unfortunately after they left Luna's clear, runny nose turned green. Within 24hrs we were all a little congested and achy. Luna by far got it worst but poor Dakota is still congested today. I would normally do my apple cider vinegar routine but worry about it in my milk so I've been fending off this cold with zinc, Emergen-C, fluids and rest. So far so good for me, but these poor babies of mine!
So I think that's about all I can recap right now. I still have a solid case of postpartum brain. I've been making lots of lists and trying to practice time management best I can. Luna's 2nd birthday is approaching in just a few weeks and invitations go out today! So much to do and that much harder to plan with a new baby on board. I'd appreciate some warmer weather soon, it's been so bitter cold with snow and rain it's hard to leave the house!
Dont forget to vote and keep us in the ranks:

I read faces. Your Dakota is very sweet. She will be gentle and less of a "force" than her big sister. She will balance out your tribe.
