Well... we she did it.
Today was Luna's first day of school. Tuesday, January 8th - a day I shall remember forever in my life history. I woke up extra early so we could have some hang time before leaving. When I rolled over and woke her pulling her up into our bed she quietly said "cuddle mommy, cuddle. Stay...stay". It was insanely cute and a great start to the morning - she's such a mush and the girl loves to lounge in bed. After a few minutes we both rose and climbed out leaving Travis behind.
I made scrambled eggs, bacon, raisin toast, and some avocado for us both and there we sat at the table at 7am groggy eyed, sipping green juice, and discussing Barney. She was really excited to go to school and I was quite impressed with how well she handled it all. She was quiet on the three and a half minute drive over but eagerly got out of the car when we arrived. She handed me back her panda hat and said "back car, mommy". As warm as that hat is I guess she was a little embarrassed to wear a stuffed animal on her head on the first day of school.
As we stepped inside we were greeted by the warmest "Good Mornings!" by Luna's new teachers Miss Tara and Miss Chrissy. I bent down to Luna's level and she retreated back. Just a moment of hesitation and then she was gone. Off running to greet the three other toddlers and rifle through the big open space of new toys and possibility. I spoke briefly with the teachers to get her setup and then begged for a hug and a kiss goodbye. And just like that, it was done.
I've already called once to check on her - and she's doing great so far. She's done art, music, played outside and ate two helpings of lunch! Today's menu was sunflower butter+jelly sandwiches with sweet potato fries. I was over the moon to find such an accommodating, all organic, home based preschool/daycare right in the next town over.
It may only be one day a week, but this is another milestone in her so far short life that feels so huge. Next up...she'll so soon be a big sister! 2013 is certainly looking to be a big year for my little moony.

Sounds like a great school and a confident young lady :) congrats!
