UNDER THE WEATHER

I rarely get sick (*knock*knock) but this past weekend we ventured out into the humid blistery drizzle to our local street fair just to get some shrimp rolls from our local Mister Softie turned Crabman seafood extraordinaire. He transformed his truck into a rolling parrot-head hangout and makes the most amazing crab cakes and lobster bisque. It was totally worth the quick, albeit wet journey. I don't know if someone I came into contact with that day had a cold or if the rain just knocked down my immune system enough to launch something waiting dormant, but by late Saturday night I had a sore throat. By Sunday afternoon it was a full blown cold.

I'm a huge preacher of apple cider vinegar. The minute anyone is sick I can't shut up about ACV and its wonderful life saving elixir properties. I usually add 2-3 tbsp of ACV to a full bottle of water with a few globs of local raw honey to sweeten it up. I learned about the benefits of ACV from an old book Folk Medicine. Before I became pregnant with Moony I drank a full glass of the elixir every morning.

As I laid in bed Saturday night, half trying to convince myself to getup and take ACV and half falling asleep I just knew it was too late and I was in for a few days of stuffiness, snot, and general misery. So here I am four days later, still a tiny cough, still sneezing and living off chicken noodle soup and tissues. I still credit ACV for helping minimize the effects of a cold and shortening the duration. I can remember before ACV, a standard cold lasting at least 7-9 days before feeling any relief. Its only day four and I feel pretty ok. I havent missed a day of work and I havent abandoned Luna to pass out on the couch in a coma. The only thing I've taken is my multivitamin, zinc, and ACV.

Thankfully today is Wednesday, my most favorite day of the week signaling another week half over and the weekend's on its way!

  2. Hope you feel better soon! I feel a little like I'm starting to come down with something too so perhaps I will try your apple cider vinegar trick! Though without the option to put honey in it I wonder if I could choke it down. :D
